THE JOY OF INTERDISCIPLINARY IMPROV
AN INTRO TO SOUNDPAINTING
September 27 - November 1, 2016
Tuesdays - 8:00 - 10:00 PM
ABOUT THE CLASS
This six-week workshop is a dynamic and playful introduction to inter-disciplinary improvisation through Soundpainting. Soundpainting is a sign language. The conductor/composer signs to the performers indicating the type of improvisation desired. Performers shape their improvisation according to the signs. Soundpainting can be used to remix scored music, deepen an actor's understanding of a character, review material for a test, build a team, improve communication skills, or to simply devise something new! Each Soundpainting is a spontaneously created, original composition. The class will be taught by Strike Anywhere's founder and Artistic Director, Leese Walker. The class is open to everyone: musicians, teachers, dancers, business people, amateur and professional performers alike. All that is required is an open-mind and a desire to play!
